GEOGRAPHY:
Geography at Brunswick House covers a wide range of skills, concepts and knowledge
relating to the study of places, the human and physical processes that shape them, and
the people who live in them. Children are taught on a two yearly cycle throughout both key
stages to cover the statutory programmes of study.
1. The development of geographical enquiry and skills (including fieldwork, preparation,
use and interpretation of maps and plans, and analysis of other information sources such
as aerial photographs and ICT).
2. Development of knowledge and understanding (of places, patterns and processes,
environmental change and sustainable development).
3. Breadth of Study through themes and localities.
MUSIC:
There is a range of thriving musical activities at Brunswick House. The National
Curriculum requirement is met through many enjoyable practical musical experiences in
the classroom. These include the use of a wide range of tuned and untuned percussion
instruments and learning to play the ocarina in Year 2 and the recorder in Year 3.
Extra curricular activities include recorder clubs, bell club, and a school choir and school
orchestra. There is also the opportunity to participate in instrumental lessons on school
premises from Kent Music School staff. Currently we have children learning and a range
of brass and woodwind instruments. There is a charge for activities organised through
Kent Music School and application forms are available from the school office.
Every year we have a music concert when the children learning instruments perform for
their parents and other guests. The orchestra and choir also perform at other concerts
throughout the year.
