DESIGN and TECHNOLOGY (DT):
Children undertake a range of projects
which develop their knowledge, skills
and understanding in this area.
Children undertake investigative and
evaluative activities of many familiar
products. They then develop specific
skills through focused practical tasks
before designing and making a finished
product. Design & Technology operates
on a two yearly cycle to ensure consistency
and progress throughout both key stages.
INFORMATION and COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY (ICT):
Using the computer is a valuable part of the work in many areas of the curriculum. During
the primary years the children will have opportunities to work individually and
collaboratively with a wide range of software which includes: investigations, simulations,
adventure games, problem solving, mathematical drawing, word processing, data bases
and control technology.
We are very well equipped with computers. Our air-conditioned computer suite has 30
workstations. These are used by a whole class at a time for the full range of applications
including, word processing, graphics, data bases, simulations and spread sheets. There is
also access to the internet and e-mail. Each classroom also has three multi-media
computers. All computers are networked and there are interactive white boards in every
class.
The children are also provided with opportunities to use a range of modern equipment
and high tech applications such as video-conferencing.
