HEALTHY EATING IN SCHOOL:
You can choose whether your child has a school dinner or brings in a packed lunch.
School dinners are available for all children. It would be appreciated if the exact money
could be paid to the class teacher on the first day of each week. Alternatively, you may
pay termly in advance. To avoid loss, or confusion, all children should bring their money in
a clearly named envelope.
It is possible for children to have free meals if the family is in receipt of Income Support.
Please contact the school secretary for the necessary application forms. Any enquiry will
be treated with confidence.
The meals are tasty and freshly cooked on the premises. Children are encouraged to
have a little of everything unless we have a letter from home stating any real and specific
dislikes, allergies or dietary requirements. No children are ever forced to eat anything they
don’t want but we try to ensure they eat a healthy balance including vegetables.
Our guidelines for packed lunches include a good balance of healthy food including
portions of fruit and vegetables. Crisps are permitted on Wednesday and Friday only and
chocolate bars are not allowed. If your child wishes to change from dinners to packed
lunches or visa versa we need to have at least one week’s notice so that the cook can
amend her order appropriately.
MEDICAL INSPECTIONS:
Every child is given a full medical examination soon after entering school at the age of five.
Parents are always invited to attend full examinations. The children’s teeth are examined
in Years 1, 3 and 6.
