Business (BTEC Level 2)
During your BTEC Business course you will learn about
the reasons why some businesses are so profitable
and you will explore the variety of different types of
business organisation, from the large multi-national
companies such as Amazon, to the small businesses
owned and run by just one person. You will learn
h
ow a business manages its money and people, and
how it produces and markets products that people
want to buy.
This course is assessed through one online
examination (25%) and the remaining 75% is assessed
in a variety of ways such as role plays, marketing
displays and coursework. It is therefore a practically
driven course that teaches you some of the key skills
for running a business successfully.
It is equivalent to one GCSE at grade A*-C, and is
graded as Pass, Merit, Distinction and Distinction*.
WHAT CAN I DO AFTER I’VE TAKEN A GCSE OR BTEC IN BUSINESS STUDIES?
In the 6
th
Form, you can go on to study a Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Business
(equivalent to an A-level) or the Business Studies A-level. Both these courses provide
an excellent path for a wide variety of careers and courses at University.
In the past, our students have gone on to complete further education courses
(including University) in Advertising, Event Management, Marketing, Business Studies,
Management Studies, Accounting, Banking and Finance as well as apprenticeships and
careers in businesses, for example, an Office Administrator.
“I love the BTEC course because I’m not very good in
exams and I’ve found I can keep to the deadlines with
some extra work at home and produce some really good
coursework!” -
