Business Studies (GCSE)
As part of KS4 Business Studies you will learn what makes a
successful entrepreneur, how to identify and develop a
business idea and spot opportunities that might, one day,
make money. You will explore what is important for a
successful business, from the people that work within, the
way a product is launched and marketed to the finance
needed to back a product/service.
During the course you will have the opportunity to present a
product in a ‘Dragons’ Den’ style environment where we use
external business professionals and other senior colleagues to
help judge a marketing campaign driven by you.
This course is assessed through two, one hour examinations
(75%). The controlled assessment (25%) is the completion of a
research project into a business problem. The write up of your
findings is completed in school, under examination conditions.
The Business Department is a dynamic team of business professionals. We
have a wealth of experience in a variety of industries including Retail,
Banking and Information Technology. This means you are taught by people
who have worked in businesses and can bring it alive with real
experiences. Whichever career you choose to follow, it is important to
understand how a business works, whether you work for yourself or for
others. Our course teaches you about the inner workings of a business
and the key decisions needed to result in success.
