Post 16 Progression – After Yr 11?
The Government has changed the law so that from September 2013, all young people are
required to continue in education or training until they are 18.
This does not mean staying in school, there are a variety of pathways that can be
followed after Year 11 (Post 16), these are:
Full-time study in school, college or with a training provider
Full time work or volunteering combined with part-time education or training
An Apprenticeship
We want to encourage your child to participate because of the benefits it will bring – this
is the reason why the vast majority of 16 and 17 year-olds already choose to continue in
education or training. Further information about the choices Post 16 are shown on
Page 6 or speak with Mrs Watson, Careers Advisor.
