If you’re interested in working with people, or want to care
for and help others in relation to their health and
wellbeing, you should find this course fascinating and
valuable. Personal organisation, and diligence will be vital
to your success as you will be required to carry out
independent research tasks, evaluate evidence and clearly
present your findings on a number of topics including
Personal Development and Relationships, Health and
wellbeing, Social Care and Early Years Provision.
You will benefit from a variety of learning techniques which
include hosting visiting practitioners from a variety of
professions as well as meeting service providers and
service users, and investigating their experiences.
This is an academically demanding course, 60% of which is
assessed in Year 10 through controlled assessment which
involves researching and creating a portfolio of a service
user under controlled conditions. The remaining 40% of
your final grade will be assessed at the end of Year 11
when you will complete a 1hr 15min examination
The knowledge and skills developed during the Health &
Social Care GCSE course are completely relevant to job
roles in health, education or social care settings.
