Construction
(BTEC Level 1)
The Construction course is a BTEC
qualification that prepares you for
working in the building or engineering
industry. You will be shown how to use
tools, equipment and materials in a
number of trade areas.
SATRO deliver the course, one afternoon
each week for the whole two years of the
course. Expert tradesman come onto the
Blenheim site and a member of the
Blenheim staff is also on hand to assist.
There are no exams, but to gain the
qualification you will be required to
collect evidence of your work and to keep
this in a folder.
To pursue this course, you will need to
have an interest in the building industry.
You must also show that you are able to
work in a safe manner as you will be
working with potentially dangerous
equipment, and willing to work outside.
Travel & Tourism
(BTEC Level 2)
The Travel and Tourism industry is one of the UK’s largest
sectors, currently employing over 2.5 million people. There
are many different types of tourism which contribute to the
UK economy. The travel and tourism sector is composed of
many different industries; their roles vary and the ways in
which they work together differ. Technology today has to
change to meet the changing customer needs.
During this work-related course you will investigate the
travel and tourism sector, the major tourist destinations in
the UK, and what the UK travel and tourism industry has to
offer.
Optional units will include international travel and tourism
destinations and the importance of customer service within
the industry.
This course is suitable for anyone wishing to enter the
travel and tourism industry. Visits and speakers will be
included as often as possible. There is progression from
this course onto the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in the 6th
Form.
The course is assessed through exam (25%) and coursework
(75%), and is graded as Pass, Merit, Distinction and
Distinction*.
