Curriculum
Marshfields School is able to offer a varied,
interesting and individualised curriculum to all
students. We aim to develop a love of learning
by ensuring each student receives high quality
teaching and support, maximising their enjoyment
of learning.
At key stage three all students study a core curriculum of
English, Maths, Science, Design Technology, Food Technology,
PE, Performing Arts, Humanities and Personal Development.
The programmes of study build upon their knowledge and
understanding helping to prepare students for their KS4
accredited courses.
Within the key stage four curriculum all students continue to study
English, Maths, Science, PE and Personal Development. Students
are able to tailor their curriculum based upon their interests and
future aspirations. Students can opt to study in further depth in
DesignTechnology, FoodTechnology or Enterprise and one of
Sport, Performing Arts or Humanities. All subjects are taught at a
variety of levels and forms of accreditation including Entry Level
1 – 3, Foundation Level, BTEC and GCSE.
We aim for our students to take part in a broad curriculum but also
give them the opportunity to take part in a range of experiences
to improve their social skills and independence. These experiences
are delivered through activity days, focussed days and house days
throughout the school year.
Enrichment plays an important part in the Marshfields’ curriculum. Students are able to attend lunchtime and after-school clubs in a
wide variety of activities. These include sports, performing arts, academic support and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
All Marshfields students receive daily additional literacy and numeracy support. The aimof the Marshfields curriculum is
to provide academic rigour and purpose through engaging and differentiated teaching to ensure all students achieve, in the
process becoming rounded citizens.
