Behaviour/Code of Practice
School Council
The School Council is elected at the beginning of each academic year – usually at the end of September when the new intake
is more familiar with the school. Each house elects its own representatives. The Council meets regularly with the Deputy
Headteacher. Each council member is expected to contribute to the debate and express the views of their own House. Four
councils exist – lower, upper, post 16 and full school council.
House System
There are four Houses at Marshfields; Discovery, Endeavour, Well Being and Invention. Each student and member of staff is
attached to one of the houses. Housepoints are awarded to students for achievement in all areas of the curriculum, attendance
and good behaviour. Every day we celebrate students from each house who have earned the most house points. Day trips are
organised for students in the houses once a year.
Pastoral Care
Each student has a form tutor and assistant who are responsible for his/her pastoral care, including any worries or concerns.
Where possible, the Senior Leadership Team maintains an “open door” policy, whereby any student who may feel the need to see
them can do so at any reasonable time. Please contact the tutor team first if you have a concern you wish to discuss.
