Attendance
Regular attendance and punctuality is essential. Government guidance means we can no longer authorise family holidays, or
indeed any absence (except for exceptional circumstances – contact the school office for a form to apply for this).
Parents are asked to contact the school on the first day of absence to explain why their child is not in school.
A student who has been absent from school must also on return, bring a note explaining the absence which ensures that no
student can be absent without the knowledge of parents. If a student is expected to be absent for more than three days, it would
be helpful if parents would let us know at once rather than waiting for the student’s return to school.
The school undertakes to follow up any unexplained
absence as quickly as possible and the cooperation of
parents is greatly appreciated.
Parents are asked not to send children to school who are
feeling unwell in the morning. If a child falls ill or has an
accident whilst at school we make arrangements for the
parents to be informed and for you to collect your child noting
that in case of emergency, children may be taken to hospital.
Students are expected to take part in the Physical
Education programme and either a note or medical
certificate should be sent prior to any withdrawal from
these activities.
Your attention is drawn to the school’s Attendance Policy which
also gives details of the school procedures for students who
regularly fail to attend without authorised reason.
Behaviour and Discipline
At Marshfields we expect high standards of behaviour and work at all times. We take a positive approach to discipline in matters
of behaviour and our Code of Conduct is a set of balancing statements for reward and discipline.
Your attention is drawn to the School’s Behaviour Management Policy based on Government guidance which means that parents
are required to fully support all actions taken by the school in relation to the management of their child’s behaviour. The school
holds a half termly Awards Assembly that demonstrates and applauds positive choices and achievements by students.
Anti-Bullying Policy
Marshfields is totally opposed to bullying in any of its forms and it will not be tolerated in school. We are committed to
providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all our students so they can learn in a relaxed and secure atmosphere. A
comprehensive anti-bullying policy operates within the school along with a set of procedures to identify and deal with any such
incidents quickly and effectively. Parents and families have an important role to play in helping to deal with bullying. If you are
worried that your child is bullying or being bullied in school, please do not hesitate to contact us. The school co-operates fully
with the local authority by providing them with regular data updates on pupils that bully.
