Staff Consultation
During the year opportunities will be given for meetings with the teachers on an appointment
basis in order that the parents may discuss their child's progress. Staff hold weekly ‘surgeries’
for parents to share concerns with teachers and to enable progress to be maintained.
In addition to this we wish to emphasise that parents are welcome to contact the school at any
time and request an appointment. It will be made as soon as possible. We are well aware that
small matters can rapidly grow into larger ones and that there is nothing gained by delay.
Members of staff may approach parents if they feel the need for a parental interview. This
could be for a variety of reasons relating to a child's school life, either academic or social.
Written reports are given yearly in the summer term.
Our School and Our Parents
Parents are warmly welcomed within the school. Indeed, we would find it difficult to function as
we do without them. There are parents who help on visits, hear readers, help on computers,
make costumes for school events, act as chauffeurs and generally help in a variety of ways.
We very much value and appreciate their support and they are a very important part of our
community. Please contact the school office if you would like to volunteer within the school.
DBS Checks and Car Insurance
Parents who would like to help in school must apply for a DBS check. We follow national and
local Child Protection Procedures, and if any DBS Checks come back without clearance
parents will not be allowed to help in school.
In order to apply for a DBS Check, parents must contact the school office for an application
form.
DBSs are not portable from one organisation to another.
For many outside school
events, particularly sports events, we appreciate parental help with transporting children to and
from such activities. However, we advise parents to check they are covered on their own car
insurance for this.
Arrangements to Visit the School
Prospective parents are welcome to visit the school. Several times are set aside in September
and October to enable parents to see the school at work. Please telephone the school for the
dates for this year.
An evening meeting for all prospective parents is held in the July previous to their child's entry
in the September. Parents will have the opportunity to see the school and meet some of the
staff. Other parents who may wish to visit the school before their children are admitted are
invited to telephone the school for an appointment.
