In an average week Infant pupils will receive approximately 22 hours of actual teaching time, and the Junior
children will receive approximately 22 hours 20 minutes of actual teaching time. As there are no
arrangements to supervise children prior to 8.35am we ask that they are not left unattended as school
cannot be held responsible for any child left unattended prior to this time. After 8.45am your child must
enter school through the main entrance and register at the school office.
The information in this booklet is correct at the time of printing in relation to the school year September
2015 – July 2016.
It should not be assumed that there could be no subsequent change affecting the relevant arrangements
before the start of, or during, the year in question
.
The Department for Education and Science require that the school prospectus set out the arrangements so
that parents can ensure that a complaint is fully considered. If parents are concerned about any aspect of
the school curriculum and related matters then they should discuss it informally with the Headteacher. If
this cannot resolve the issue then the matter may be the subject of a formal complaint under Section 23 of
the Education Reform Act 1988, and, if appropriate, referred to the Governing Body. If the Governing Body
fails to provide a response satisfactory to the complainant, the complaint will be referred to the Local
Education Authority (i.e. City of York Council). The ultimate step is to complain to the Secretary of State
for Education but all the steps outlined above will have to have been taken before he can entertain the
complaint.
(These arrangements do not cover complaints about the actions of individual teachers or the Headteacher).
