Preparing Children for a Successful Future
Partially shaved hair styles are not permitted in school. This includes shaved patterns in the hair line. Dyed
hair whether permanent or temporary is not to be worn to school and nail varnish is also not permitted. We
recommend that all hair longer than shoulder length is tied back during the school day.
One of the main reasons that parents and Governors settled on the uniform code of dress was that it helped
prevent arguments between parents and children over clothing for school. It is a self-supporting system. If a
child is allowed to wear alternative clothes this often undermines the efforts of other parents.
The Governing Body has been concerned that certain children have been verbally bullied due to the fact they
do not have designer items for P.E. They feel the only solution to this problem is insisting on a standard non-
designer P.E. kit. This will consist of the following inexpensive items but excludes training shoes as they
inevitably have a designer logo.
PE / GAMES - For indoor work children have bare feet and require navy blue or black shorts and a plain
white crewneck T- shirt. For outdoor work they require warm navy blue, black or dark grey jogging trousers
and sweatshirt (without hood) and trainers. For hygiene reasons we stress the importance of a change of
clothing for P.E. and Games lessons. As with any item of clothing all P.E./Games kit should be marked with
your child's name and kept in a named drawstring or similar bag. Due to space restrictions we discourage
large sports holdalls or rucksacks.
FOREST SCHOOL – Children visit our forest School area all year round and in all weathers. Ideally they
need a waterproof jacket and trousers that will completely cover their school uniform and a set of old warm
clothes. All children need a pair of wellington boots that can be permanently left in school as these are
stored in our outside changing rooms and are not easily accessible at the end of the school day. Forest
School kit should be kept in our named drawstring Forest School Bag which is available to order on line from
our on line school shop at

In the interests of safety and to comply with LEA guidelines, we request that jewellery not be worn in
school. `Medic-Alert' bracelets/necklaces and Chew Bracelets are exceptions to this rule. If you are
considering having your child‟s ears pierced the most appropriate time is the first week in the summer
holidays. This causes least disturbance to school routine. Please take note that if children are unable to
remove their own earrings they will not be permitted to participate in PE / Games / Sports. Watches may
only be worn by Children once they have learnt to tell the time.
The school meets the requirements of the 1988 Education Reform Act with Collective Worship taking place
on a weekly basis: the acts of worship are strictly non-denominational. Parents do have the right to ask for
their child to be withdrawn should the beliefs of the family be offended by the child's participation. If
parents do wish to withdraw their children from acts of worship they should contact the Headteacher.
