Preparing Children for a Successful Future
When your child enters the Foundation Stage you will be asked to check and if necessary update the
information we hold regarding your child, for example, emergency contacts & medical details. After this
time we rely on parents to notify us of any changes. (A Change of Contact and Administering Medicines form
can be found in the Proforma section of this information pack). It is vital that we hold the most update
contact information for parents at all times. We must be able to get in touch with you speedily should the
need arise. It is also imperative that you inform us of any allergies that you child suffers from.
If your child has a medical appointment or needs to visit an
emergency
dentist during the school day would
you please inform the school office
(dental check-ups should be made outside of the school day
). If your
child is taken out during the school day please sign them out at the main office and obtain an absence pass.
Children will need to be signed back in on their return.
If your child is ill we appreciate a telephone call to the sickness line, 555231, on the first morning (before
9:15am) and each subsequent morning until your child returns to school. Our School Nurse is Julie Byfield
she can be contacted on 01904 724678.The School Health Assistant monitors your child‟s hearing, vision,
height and weight. These visits take place when your child is in FS2, KS1 and Year 6.
The school cannot accept any responsibility for valuable items brought into school. Incidents of theft are
very rare but they do occur.
Children are not allowed to bring mobile phones into school. However, we realise there are exceptional
circumstances when a parent needs to be in touch with their child, e.g. to change arrangements for picking up
from school or when children begin to walk to/from school without an adult. If this is the situation, children
must bring their phone to the school office each morning to be kept in a locked drawer, phones can be
collected at the end of the day.
All children have been provided with their own locker to make better use of space within the school. It also
makes for a much tidier building.
In line with recent research on optimising children‟s learning, we have provided all children with access to
chilled, filtered water during the day. This prevents pupils and staff from becoming dehydrated and is
especially important for effective brain functioning. All children are provided with a bottle when they join
school - if this is lost the school will provide a replacement for a fee of £1.50. Only water bottles provided
by school can be used due to the difficulty of storage within classrooms. Bottles will be brought home by
individual pupils on Friday evenings to be washed out.
