Preparing Children for a Successful Future
strategies children use to learn within school to help parents to support learning at home.
If your child does not arrive at school by 9.15 a.m. and we have not received any notification of illness and
authorised absence has not been requested, a member of the office staff will phone your home to clarify the
situation. If there is no answer the emergency numbers will be rung. If we still are unable to contact you and
have no knowledge of your child‟s whereabouts, we will then telephone the police to inform them. Though this
seems heavy handed it follows advice supplied to schools.
Mrs Gill Johnson, Parent Liaison Manager, meets with the Parent Forum each term to discuss current
thinking and initiatives occurring in school. These are informal open meetings and all parents / guardians are
welcome to attend. An agenda will be placed in the school information boards prior to each meeting.

their performance in school. The cup is presented in assembly.
“Star of the week” certificates, are also awarded on a weekly basis to one pupil from each learning group
who has, in the judgement of his/her teacher, made considerable progress in one or more aspects of
their
performance in school. The certificates are also presented in assembly. In addition to this, we would also
like to further share with you your child‟s achievements and to this end we have introduced a “Well Done
Postcard” which you may receive in the post detailing your child‟s success either socially or academically to
reward good behaviour and effort. We have the “DoJo” system which is an interactive visual reward system
for children. Parents are able to access their child DoJo account at home and will receive log on details from
school.
