PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Rock climbing
Approximately 15-20 girls from any year group, are
escorted by two members of staff to the Westway
Climbing Centre, London’s premier indoor climbing venue.
Girls are taught by qualified instructors in small groups,
depending on their level of expertise and experience.
Climbers range from absolute beginners learning the
ropes (!), through to seasoned lead climbers. At the end of
the hour and a half climbing session there is always some
time for bouldering fun (climbing without ropes, over a
crash mat) and stretching to warm down.
There is often the opportunity to go on an outdoor
adventurous visit in the summer term where rock climbing
will be one of the activities you will participate in.
Rock climbing runs from 4.00-5.30pm usually on a Friday
(although day may vary) in the summer term only.
Rowing
Rowing is a popular sport, with over 50 girls rowing
competitively over a variety of year groups. More than 2/3
ofYear 9 girls try out for a place in the J14 squad, and there
are also squads for J15, J16 and J18 rowers.Training on the
water takes part at Putney, from KCS Wimbledon’s Boat
House. The Boat Club competes at many local, regional
and national races, with highlights being the Schools’ Head
of the River and the National Schools’ Regatta.
Rowing takes place all year round on various days after
school and Saturdays.
Tennis Coaching
During the summer term the girls have the opportunity to
have small group coaching sessions with the coaches from
Henry Lamb Tennis. They work on developing individual
skills as well as game play.
