PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Basketball
There is a junior and senior squad which comprises of Years
7-9 and then Year 10 and above. Girls attend training once a
week and work at game play as well as individual skills. We
are part of a league which plays fixtures over the autumn and
spring terms.
Rounders
Rounders squads look at girls’ ability to both bat and field.
They need to demonstrate tactical understanding in order to
limit a batter’s scoring opportunities as well as where to hit
the ball in order to gain the best chance to score a rounder.
There are four teams in U12-14 and two in the U15.
Athletics
The athletics squad is gaining in strength with many girls
participating outside of school. Girls will practise a variety of
events and often get the chance to represent the school both
in the winter months through borough indoor events and
cross country, as well as in the summer. Athletics is very much
a team event as often it is the team that progresses through,
although girls can also be selected for borough or regional
teams on an individual basis.
Tennis
Tennis is a popular summer squad and girls benefit from
external coaches who work alongside the PE department.
Squads will be made up of approximately 20 girls. Squad
members are expected to participate in either or both the
schools’ singles and doubles competitions during the second
part of the summer term.
Cricket
The cricket squad is made up of girls who attend the weekly
extra curricular club. They will enter the national indoor
competition during the winter months as well as the newly
formed U13 and U15 H&F borough summer league.
