Extra Curricular Booklet 2014 - page 37

It is important to make a difference and to give something back to our community,
both locally and beyond. Many girls find their voluntary work among the most
rewarding and satisfying things they do while at school. You will find that you get
a great deal out of the work that you do through meeting and working with new
and different people of all ages and with a range of needs. You can apply for a
voluntary placement at the end of the Autumn Term inYear 10.
We also hope that everyone in the sixth form will find some time to take part in
voluntary work or some form of community service. You may need to do this as
part of your Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme or your IB CAS, but we hope
that you will do it because you want to, recognising that this may well be one of
the most rewarding aspects of your sixth form career.
We have lots of exciting opportunities to get involved in but we are also keen
that you should take initiative and form your own projects. If you do so, or
become involved in any community or voluntary work in England or abroad,
please let us know!
Enjoy your placement, make a difference to people’s lives – and report back.
