The Friends
We have a
thriving and supportive PTFA
, the Friends of Foxton School,
which raises in excess of £5000 every year as well as making a major
contribution to the life of the school. Social events are held throughout the
year, for adults and for children, including a Summer Fun Day and an
Autumn Art Exhibition. The money raised in recent years has equipped the school with 16 laptops and 2
new smartboards, paid our photocopying bill and subsidised the travel costs of Class 4 residential trips.
The Cluster
As a school we also contribute to and benefit from the network of
our local cluster of secondary and primary schools, with recent
collaborations on assessment and professional development as
well as a careers conference for KS2 children. We have strong links
to local secondary schools. Most Year 6 children go on to
Melbourn, Sawston and Comberton Village Colleges, a few go on to
local independent schools. We liaise closely to facilitate a smooth
transition for all our children.
allyance school counselling
We also have access to the
school counselling service
allyance
, which
provides counsellors to work with troubled children across the cluster.
As a school we have seen the enormous benefit this service can bring
to children going through difficult times.
The Faculty of Education
For many years Foxton School has enjoyed close links with the Faculty of Education at the University of
Cambridge. We have regularly had trainee teachers on work placements in school. Staff members
support the work of the Faculty, interviewing candidates, teaching students and carrying out
educational
research
