Bonneygrove Primary School Prospectus - 2016 - page 8

Partnership & communication
We recognise each and every one of
you are the primary educators of your
children, as school takes up a relatively
small number of hours compared to the
time spent at home. We regularly share
what has been learnt in school and your
child’s next steps, both face to face -
with our open door policy - and via our
learning platform, which allows children
to create their own blogs and podcasts
in a safe and controlled way.
However you choose to communicate,
we will always work together as a team
to ensure your child is receiving all the
support they need.
The power of words should not be
underestimated - we, at Bonneygrove,
know how they can inspire, challenge,
inform, and make others feel at ease. So
whether our staff are communicating
with children or parents, we want
everyone to feel able to discuss any
worries, concerns or ideas they may
have in a supportive environment.
“Let children read whatever they want
and then talk about it with them. If
parents and kids can talk together,
we won’t have as much censorship
because we won’t have as much fear.”
— Judy Blume
British Values & Citizenship
It is important to Bonneygrove that we
create a whole school community – a
community your children can be proud
to be part of and an idea they can take
with them when they leave. We teach
with an emphasis on global issues
along with ethical thinking, as our aim
is to inspire great attitudes, the ability to
question and an intelligence that goes
beyond the school and into the world.
“Pupils get on well with each other.
They say they enjoy taking on
responsibility and recognise how
their work on the school council helps
them to understand key ideas such
as fairness and democracy. They
recognise and accept that people
have different faiths, cultures and
backgrounds. They say they like taking
part in activities that allow them
to express their views. They show
tolerance and respect because these
values are instilled by the school. One
pupil commented, “All people are equal
and we should show respect.”
