The Environment

Our school consists of three buildings

set in extensive grounds, comprising of

a woodland area along with a school

garden and pond; this promotes a

healthy attitude to nature which we, as

a community, value. We use part of our

school grounds to house chickens and

the children are then taught how to care

for them; this ensures outdoor learning.

As well as teaching the importance of

nature, we also ensure that children

engage in team work and exercise; our

trim trail area, two playing fields and

two playgrounds really allow children to

explore a variety of sporting activities,

form strong friendships and have fun

          - we know that happy and nurtured

children will be able to flourish in all

          areas of their schooling.

We are proud of our positive learning

          environment and interactive displays;

we ensure children feel inspired by

          surroundings that are both enriching

          and conducive to learning. Our

          classrooms are well equipped with

          modern technology, such as interactive

          whiteboards, computers, laptops and

I-pads when needed. For the Early Years

Foundation Stage we have a range of

controllable toys - these help develop

          early skills involving technology and

          therefore inspire wider learning.

          Learning & Teaching

          We understand the importance of

inspiring a love for learning, with

          enthusiasm and creativity. This was

noted at our Ofsted inspection in 2015:

‘From the time they start school in

the early years, children take a keen

interest in their learning. As they move

            through the school, pupils maintain

            positive attitudes which contribute

strongly to the progress they make.’

We follow a skills based creative

curriculum and use this to create

          informative links between our learning

in all different subject areas; this

          engages and motivates children, and

          makes learning purposeful, fun and

exciting. Our children join us in the Early

          Years Foundation Stage where they

benefit from a good start to school in a

          well-resourced, nurturing environment.
