Pastoral Care – an environment
where children thrive
We take great care to make sure that every student is valued, secure and
academically successful.
Developing a sense of ambition and self-esteem in every individual; children matter at Hatch End
High School. Our students thrive in an environment that couples opportunity and expectation with
clear boundaries for behaviour and self-discipline.
Induction
We recognise the significant “rites of passage” all young people look forward to as they enter a
large, successful secondary school but we also recognise that natural concerns can come with this
transition. We have a dedicated Pastoral Team with extensive experience in getting it right and they
plan a sensitive and engaging programme with individualised attention working alongside a whole
array of fun, team building activities.
Support and guidance through their school life
Our Pastoral System is designed to ensure that all students are cared for and supported in becoming
confident, happy and successful learners. Students are placed in good sized tutor groups with tutors who
have regular daily contact and get to know them as individuals – their tutor plays a key role in monitoring
a student’s academic progress as well as their emotional wellbeing and wider participation in school life.
In addition, we employ highly trained Pastoral Support Staff who provide additional care and guidance –
going the extra mile to ensure every student feels happy, safe and academically challenged.
“Students have very good relationships with each other and
with their teachers, showing a positive attitude to their work.”
