Creating Opportunities
and developing skills
Students can choose from a range of activities
on offer before and after school and, by doing
so, are encouraged to develop lifelong skills and
interests. The full range of traditional competitive
team based sports is on offer, together with other
popular activities such as gym, dance, trampolining
and table tennis.
Numerous school visits feature on the calendar, both
in the UK and abroad, including cultural visits to
other European countries, field trips and links to our
partner school in Africa. Regular visits to cultural,
political and religious centres allow young people to
broaden their horizons and widen their thinking.
In-house programmes help develop rounded
individuals, enhanced by links to local businesses and
the local community. Success with a Young Enterprise
project, completion of the Duke of Edinburgh’s
Award Scheme, participating in work experience or
mentoring younger students can all create memorable
experiences, as well as developing leadership skills and
encouraging independence. Elected members of the
School Council regularly debate significant aspects of
school life, so making a constructive contribution to
the running of the school.
Experiences outside the classroom are just as valuable as those
within. We are committed to provide fulfilling experiences for our
learners to strengthen and support their academic achievements.
Through a diverse programme of extracurricular activities,
students are encouraged to develop their intellectual, sporting,
artistic, cultural, and creative abilities.
