he PA welcomes you all back to a new school year, and wishes a particularly warm welcome to the new Year 7 girls and

parents. At Watford Girls, we are fortunate to have an active PA that supports the school with essential fund raising

through the organisation of social events and other activities.

Since 2000, the PA has raised funds and donated in the region of £200k to the school. This tremendous amount of money

has been put towards items and projects that enhance the education of all our daughters. The PA has contributed towards the

purchase of new computers, the refurbishment of the Maths department in Hyde House and Year 7’s Lady’s Close, seating

in Tennet Hall, sound and lighting in the hall to enhance Drama and Music events, and donated money to departments for

specific items that enrich learning. Over the next few months, the PA plans to provide funds for the new Sixth Form block,

from which all the girls have the opportunity to benefit. A special thanks must go to ex-Chair, Tracey Barraclough, who was

the driving force behind the PA for a number of years.

The PA’s biggest fund raiser takes place this term - the Christmas Fair on Sunday 4th December from 11am to 4pm. There

will be a variety of stall holders selling a wide range of products, three tombolas, a grand draw, books and toys, delicious

Christmas puddings, mulled wine, refreshments, and games stalls run by the Year 7s. Please look out for PA messages on

ParentMail - we need your support and hope you will get involved and look forward to seeing many of you on the day.

All parents are automatic members of the PA and are welcome to come along to meetings held approximately twice a

term in the History Room in the main building on a Monday evening at 7.30pm – this term’s meetings are 17th October

and 14th November. There is always

a ‘question time’ on the Agenda and

parents are able to ask the Head or

          staff representative about school life.

          General PA information, including

meeting dates, can be found on the

school website. In addition to events,

we run a successful ‘100 Club’ – pay

just £12 a year and you have the

          opportunity of winning money in

school – at present we have 107

parents using this site, but would love

to increase these numbers! If you want
