Within this role you will be helping and aiding some of the most vulnerable people in society. It is a caring profession which is rewarding and extremely satisfying as you can make a definitive difference to people’s lives. Developing relationships with your patients and seeing the impact your work makes to their daily lives, watching them go from strength to strength because of the work and commitment you give, is very gratifying and motivating. Healthcare is a growing sector with great global career opportunities. The role of a healthcare professional is varied and every day is different, caring for patients with a differing range of needs and requirements. It will be challenging and you will need problem solving-skills which will be a focus for student development throughout this course. CURRICULUM STATEMENT Throughout the two years you will: • Complete two written exams, a controlled assessment and five coursework units if you choose the Diploma • Experience course content that is varied and relevant to a number of different areas within the Health and Social Care sector. • Explore the different career options available to you within the sector. • Developanunderstandingof the roles and responsibilities of different healthcare professionals. • Experience first-hand how to complete secondary research, which is an integral part of university life. • Talk to representatives from higher education offering guidance on the different courses available COURSE CONTENT Students need to have achieved a minimum of 4 grades 4-9 incl.
