Prospect School - Prospectus

WHO ARE WE? Learning comes first at Prospect and through our talented and passionate teaching staff we deliver a varied and stimulating educational experience. Students engage with both traditional and more creative learning styles and are encouraged to be active learners. Within the curriculum and in special off-timetable days we emphasise group work, independent learning and presentations as well as the skills and techniques needed to be successful in formal tests and examinations. We commit to continuous evaluation to make sure we are at the forefront of innovation and invention. Our curriculum is broad and balanced so students can keep their options for future study as open as possible. We make provision for students of all abilities and interests, and personalise timetables for some students. This will be developed and refined throughout your child’s school life. Every student is treated as an individual and is encouraged to develop as a confident independent learner ready to make the most of the opportunities that a rapidly changing world will undoubtedly provide. Students’ potential will be stretched through our innovative curriculum provision, high quality teaching, rigorous tracking and the setting of aspirational expectations. We value the input of our students into the development of their school. Our School Council (Prospect Parliament) run by the student body, is closely involved in the school’s development, including our future planning. Our site provides an ideal environment for students, with a range of specialist teaching facilities, such as engineering workshops and modern science labs. The sports hall and gym facilities are complemented by extensive grounds and courts, enabling students to take part in a wide range of physical education and sporting activities. All students and members of staff contribute to a thriving and caring community within and beyond the school. We are a busy school offering a wide range of extra-curricular activities and opportunities before, during and after school, as well as in the holidays. High quality pastoral care, respect and equality of opportunity are at the centre of our school and its ethos. Our students know that we care and that help is always available either from one of our talented Pastoral team or from our school councillor. Our prospectus will give you a flavour of our school and its community. To fully appreciate our unique school please come to one of our open days that run throughout September.
