At Key Stage 3, all students follow a broad and balanced curriculum. From day one, we aim to nurture the independent learning skills that are so highly prized by employers and universities, giving students the best possible chance of a successful future. At Key Stages 4 and 5, learning is personalised through a wide choice of academic and vocational courses. Rigorous monitoring and guidance ensures that each individual makes excellent progress, with additional support provided if required. Our gifted and talented programme offers extra challenge to the most able students. We are very proud to be able to offer the widest range of learning options of any school in Reading. We have a strong reputation in Sport and ICT and for excellence in Business, as well as Applied Learning. Throughout the curriculum, we promote strongly the basics of literacy and numeracy. Our facilities provide students with a high-quality learning environment in which to develop their skills. Our Loddon building is equipped with construction and engineering workshops. Our already excellent sporting facilities were recently enhanced further with our a 3G playing surface. We also have a modern Sixth Form block and common room. Throughout the school, ICT underpins the whole curriculum with several dedicated IT rooms and an increasing emphasis on the use of mobile technology. Student progress is shared with parents and carers through termly assessments and an annual written report. Parents’ evenings and goal-setting days also provide opportunities for the family and school to come together and discuss progress and areas for improvement. Families also have access to our online Learning Gateway to check on progress.
