Lochinver House School Prospectus

In Year 3, boys join the school’s vibrant and highly active House system. Through Years 3 and 4, boys have the continued benefit of a class teacher to provide the security and continuity that children of this age require, whilst enjoying access to an increasing range of specialist opportunity. By Year 5, a subject-based curriculum is in place, developing skills and knowledge which culminate in entrance examinations to the senior school of choice and successful transfer at 13. This success is further supported by the creation of three rather than two classes for the final two year course pursued in Years 7 and 8, for boys aged 11-13. An excellent staff team brings high expectations to a carefully planned curriculum. A rich variety of approaches designed to engage and enable the boys draws creatively upon the superb resources within the school. Whether using information technologies to compose an item for their blog, pursuing a practical investigation in our fully equipped science labs, learning through drama in our theatre, or composing an original piece for an orchestral group, learners throughout the school are encouraged to be creative and independent in their thinking. 4 YEAR THREE towards common entrance WITH THE HELP OF OUR INSPIRATIONAL GUITAR TEACHER, TOBY NOW PLAYS ACOUSTIC, FLAMENCO AND CLASSICAL GUITAR. EXPANDING CURIOUS MINDS AS THEY MOVE THROUGH SCHOOL the anti-bullying council (ABC) has representatives in all year groups. The team works on promoting positive behaviour, kindness and inclusiveness.
