Lochinver House School Prospectus
12 Lochinver boys engage widely outside of school. It is not unusual for boys to spend time in Burgundy polishing their spoken French, on a residential trip for outdoor adventure with The Bush Craft Company, kayaking in the Ardeche or studying Classics in Italy. As boys progress through school, cross curricular trips form part of our enriched curriculum, with the biennial rugby tour to South Africa a favourite. Curriculum trips are included in the fees. With privilege comes responsibility. Members of our local primary school are invited to join Lochinver boys in our specialist Science labs for the weekly Science Club session, following the Crest Investigators’ Science Scheme led by our Head of Science. Each year the Head Boys’ Charities initiative leads boys to research, present and select charities for school to support through pupil-led fundraising (over £250,000 has been raised to date). The running of the weekly tuck shop by older boys nurtures financial awareness and the importance of service to others. Lochinver opens doors to the best senior schools. In recent years boys have progressed to 22 different schools including Aldenham, City of London, Haberdashers’, Haileybury, Mill Hill, Oundle, Radley, St. Albans, St. Columba’s, Uppingham and Westminster. Over the past six years, 53 different scholarships have been attained, including 16 academic, 18 music, 6 sports, 7 arts, and 4 all-rounder scholarships. Progression through Lochinver is thoughtfully guided, with evening information sessions and ongoing dialogue to ensure the right senior school choice is made for each boy. We are regularly visited by our old boys and are always keen to hear exciting news of their achievements. GROWING BIGGER AND MOVING ON TO THE WORLD STAGE to arrange a visit, please contact our registrar, Anne Meir on 01707 653064 or email registrar@lochinverhouse.herts.sch.uk an activity for outdoor-minded boys, Ecology Club includes building a bug hotel to encourage small invertebrates and studying newts in the school pond.
