Playtime for the brain Self-expression is a core element at Lochinver - creativity and inventiveness form part of our teaching ethos. We have a heritage of developing creativity in our pupils, whether in the theatre, in the world of drawing or in musical composition and performance. So how do we inspire creativity? Inspirational English teaching with thought- provoking philosophical posts and lessons peppered with exercises to help imaginations thrive. A busy Art department where creativity across many media is encouraged, be that in creating cartoons or montages. An inventive Music department where 78% of pupils learn one instrument and 50% learn two, where musical composition happens daily and ensembles, choirs and concerts abound. These are a few examples of our creative emphasis. The school theatre is the perfect venue for the many presentations, performances and productions that take place throughout the year. In addition, our proximity to London enables an array of exciting trips to access the capital’s theatre, arts and culture. CREATIVITY ALLOWS THE EXPRESSION OF OUR ESSENCE - THE BITS THAT MAKES US INDIVIDUAL 10 THROUGH A PASSION FOR MUSIC, THOMAS HAS DISCOVERED THE ABILITY TO LEAD OTHERS AND INSPIRE CONFIDENCE Thomas our creative art therapy uses puppets, drawing and themed books to encourage children to talk through issues such as bereavement and separation.
