8 Outside the classroom, Lochinver has much to offer. Our leafy 8.5 acre site boasts an astro turf as well as extensive grassy sports fields, an ecology garden and a vegetable garden. There is ample space to let off steam, run around and explore. The school competes highly successfully in a wide range of sports and takes great pride in putting out large numbers of teams to enable maximum involvement. The children are encouraged to take an active part in the breadth of all that Lochinver life offers. In addition to our creative offering, a range of languages including French, Spanish, Latin, Greek and Russian are taught in modern, airy language laboratories. A comprehensive activities programme enriches the boys’ experience. Examples of such activities are cookery, swimming, play writing, filming, golf, tennis, ecology, photography, Tae Kwon Do or rehearsing for an orchestral or drama production. Chess is played throughout school with weekly matches against local schools and annual entry to the UK Chess Challenge. Every boy is encouraged to participate in at least one activity a term and to give consideration to trying something they have not experienced before.
